Thanksgiving 2019

Keep Safe this Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Johnston County Emergency Services.

Keep your holiday safe by following these tips:

  • NEVER leave cooking food unattended & make sure that you are REGULARLY CHECKING food as it cooks.
  • Make sure food if FULLY COOKED before eating. USDA recommends the internal temperature of turkey be 165 degrees F.
  • Roads can be busy on holidays. USE CAUTION if traveling. Also, take steps to PROTECT your home from theft.
  • DRINK RESPONSIBLY and practice good judgement. If you plan on driving, DO NOT consume alcohol.
  • DO NOT douse a grease fire with water. The best thing to do is to cover the pan with a lid and turn off the burner.
  • BE AWARE of children while cooking. Hazards like stokes, candles, and hot food or liquids should be out of reach.

We hope that your holiday is safe and enjoyable, but if an emergency does occur, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.
